PLANTATION blinds & shutters
Plantation shutters are another great option of window covering. These shutters mount relatively permanently to the front of a window, and are very easy to close and open because of this. They also are very easy to block out light with because they are always on the window. Another reason for this is that you can customize the space between each slat, whether it be 2 inches or five inches. And, when you want to open them up all the way, in order to have nothing blocking the window and light, you can open them away from the window with a hinge.
However, this does make it harder to place furniture in front of a window because you have to have the width of the window shutter in front of the window empty in order to allow them to open up all the way. But, if this doesn’t affect anything, it's a very nice way to let a lot of light into your home. Something that is also nice about these shutters is that because they are mounted to the window in the way that they are, it is very easy to pretty much block out over ninety-five percent of light trying to come in. This can be nice for rooms like a living room, parent’s bedroom, theater, or anywhere you are likely to have a tv/projector. And, when you’re done watching, you can just open them up again and have lots of light in the room.
These shutters are also very simple. You don’t have any annoying strings hanging off of them that could get tangled or messed up, and they aren’t easy to snag or break. Plantation shutters also are very nice looking. They match many styles and eras, and offer a very custom and sheek look to your home. With their versatility, it is easier to fit different types of windows, such as curved or circular windows where you wouldn’t normally be able to put blinds or shades. With highly customizable options they’ll blend in better than most other types of blinds and offer a timeless look. All-in-all, these windows are a great option for anybody who wants a stylish home with unique features and characteristics.
